CLAIM EXAMPLES

Your client has operated his own welding business for over thirty years. He does not smoke and maintains a healthy lifestyle outside of work. However, he has recently been experiencing symptoms such as chest pains, bloody cough, shortness of breath, and weight loss. After further examinations, doctors have diagnosed your client with lung cancer. With a Welders & Boilermakers Liability cover, he will be able to make a claim on his insurance to compensate for the medical expenses and his weekly wage while your client is unable to work.

One of your client’s employee was installing a boiler in a high-rise apartment complex. As he was carrying sheets of galvanised steel, he stepped on a protruding rod that had not been secured. The employee suffered devastating injury to his leg and back and required multiple hospitalisations for a disc replacement and spinal fusion. After months of rehabilitation, he is left with permanent pain in his lower back. Your client was fined for not properly assessing the workplace risks beforehand and will need to compensate the affected employee for the total damage incurred.

Your client, a self-employed welder, arrived at work one day to find some of his tools stolen from his storage space – a loss of approximately $5,000. As a result, he has to pause all jobs until he purchases a replacement, disrupting business continuity and his income. Your client can lodge a claim on his insurance to cover the cost of the replacement tools and for any income loss during the time he was unable to work.
